Building a Legacy: The Launch of Two Boys Varsity Programs in Oakland

We are excited to announce a landmark development in Bay Area athletics: the launch of two inaugural boys varsity lacrosse teams at Oakland Technical High School and Oakland High School. The introduction of these varsity teams represents a significant advancement in our commitment to developing athletes from a young age through high school. By bridging the gap between middle school and high school sports, we aim to nurture talent, build skills, and create a robust lacrosse community within the OUSD.

• The Schools: Oakland High School and Oakland Technical High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse Programs
• Objective: To cement a structured athletic pipeline that supports and develops students from 6th grade through 12th grade while creating a safe space through sport.
• Impact: This initiative will provide students with enhanced opportunities for skill development, competition, and growth in lacrosse, fostering a strong and cohesive sports culture across our schools.

The new programs are expected to encourage greater participation in lacrosse, provide students with leadership and teamwork opportunities, and enhance school spirit and pride. As we build this athletic pipeline, our focus remains on creating an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes both academic, individual, and athletic excellence. Oakland Lacrosse Club is a 501(c)(3) organization that has served OUSD students since 2012.
